Halloween Best Costume Trophies

Hello everyone!

As it gets closer to Halloween, I am finishing up some last minute details for the upcoming Halloween party. Something new that I wanted to incorporate this year is costume trophies for best male, female and couples costumes. So just like most everyone else, I went to Pinterest for some fun ideas. Of course I found something and I said "I can do that"!

This is what I found...

First, head to the dollar store and purchase the skeletons. Everything else can be found at a craft store.

Here is what you will need:

Scissors
Wood base
Glue gun and glue sticks
Skeleton
Spray paint
Craft Paint
Printer
Paper
Small wood block

To get started, depending on how you want to pose your skeletons will decide how much cutting you need to do. I wanted to really pose them so I cut the skeleton up at each joint so I had total freedom. Then I started to glue, I started with the foot as my foundation. I glued it directly to the wood base.

Then, I would pose the skeleton and glue hips and shoulders into the desired position. During this process you must be patient. You have to wait for the glue to completely cool before moving on to the next step. The plastic the skeleton is very soft and pliable so your hot glue makes it really soft.

I placed a paper towel over the wood base to protect it from glue drops. When glue gets directly onto the wood you take the chance of the wood scaring when you try to remove the glue.

Once your skeleton is in the position you desire, its time to paint.  The easiest way is to just use spray paint. It goes on evenly and dries quickly.

Once they are dry, print off best costumes that fit onto small wood plaques and glue paper to the plaque and the plaque to the base.

If you have any questions please let me know, these are a lot of fun and were a huge hit last year. Good luck and Happy Crafting!

Thanksgiving Bunco Cards

DIY - Thanksgiving Themed Bunco Cards

GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE! Thanksgiving is upon us so why not have a turkey shaped Bunco card?

These turned out to be so fun! On a scale of 1-10, 10 being super hard to make, I would rate these a 4.

Here is what you need;

1. 8X11 Card stock paper (one sheet per Bunco card)
2. Printer
3. Scissors
4. Glitter Glue Pens (different colors)
5. Googly eyes

Here we go!
Here's what the card looks like when it's complete. This will show you what they look like and how fun they are!.
1. Here are all the supplies:
2. Here is your template, stretch this to fill up a 8X11 sheet of white card stock

2. Glue the googly eyes onto the turkey face. If you don't have any googly eyes, that's ok there are eyes on the turkey.

3. Colors in the areas you would like have glitter on. I chose the feet, beak, gobbler and feathers. I chose matching glitter glue colors to the colors on the paper.

4. Allow the glitter glue to dry completely before you start cutting.

5. When cutting leave a small amount of white around the edge of the turkey, this will make cutting the turkey much easier and less likely to make a mistake.

6. The great thing about this design is that you don't need to add the embellishments if you don't want to. You can just print, cut and BUNCO!

I would love to hear any feedback, please let me know how you like them.

ENJOY!

Halloween Bunco Cards

DIY - Halloween Themed Bunco Cards

Do you want to be the cool kid in the bunco group? Try making these witches hat bunco cards. They are super cute and on a scale of 1-10, 10 being super hard to make I would rate these a 7.

Here is what you need;
  1. 8X11 Card stock paper (one sheet per bunco card)
  2. Printer
  3. Scissors
  4. Hot glue and glue gun
  5. Tape
  6. Glitter Paper
  7. Rhinestones (optional)
  8. Black marker or paint pen (optional)
Here we go!

Here is what the card looks like when it is complete. This will give you an idea of size and how fun they are!

1. Here is your template, stretch this to fill up a 8X11 sheet of white card stock.

2. Cut the shapes, use the non circle as a template to trace onto glitter paper. Cut the additional piece from the glitter paper, when you are done you should have three pieces.

3. Take the circle and poke a hole into the middle of the gray center circle. Proceed to cut to the edge where the gray circle and black circle meet. Do this until you have several small triangles.

4. Now make a cone out of the card stock, the base of the cone needs to be the same size as the gray inner circle. Just use tape to secure the paper together. You will cover this with your glitter paper.

5. Please the cone over the cut gray circle.

6. With the cone set on top of the circle turn both pieces over. You will start to hot glue the base to the cone.

7. Now take your glitter paper and cover the cone, hot glue works best. First glue one side to secure your paper to the cone, then wrap around and glue the other the loose edge to the cone.

8. Then fill in the tip top opening with hot glue and either place a rhinestone on top or paint it black or in my case I did both!

9. Here is your finished project!

10. Happy Bunco'ing....

Note:

These can be tricky so be sure to practice a couple but once you get the hang of it they go really fast.

I would love to hear your feedback, please let me know how you liked them.

Thanks!

A little piece of history...

Hey Everyone,

This is my very first blog post so if I start rambling......well .....

Anyway, a little bit about me. I'm married to the most amazing man ever!! I have three fury kids, their names are Hank, Penny and Mowzer AKA the Krackin. I will go into that at a later date. I have a job that allows me to use my creative side and I love what I do. I love to make crafts but recently bunco cards are my passion. I joined a bunco team in Feb 2013 and I was hosting at my house. The rule in this bunco group is if you are hosting you provide your own bunco cards so I went on line to see what they looked like. What I found was cute and fun but nothing unique. So I turned on my creative juices and started thinking of ideas for cards. My first bunco card was cute and ladies loved them. The woman who was hosting the next month asked me to make some for her and since I love to craft I said "sure"! Now I make them every month and I love it. I love coming up with new ideas and the ladies look forward to seeing them every month. The ladies in the group and my family keep telling me to start a blog on bunco cards because they are terrific.

This is how I got to this point today, finally creating my very own blog. I hope you come back often to check out the cards and other fun crafts that I create!
